Ireland is such a beautiful country! The 40 shades of green that cover the countryside are stunning! The cliffs along the coastline are truly breathtaking!
Did you know? Ireland is the number 1 unreached English-speaking country in the world.

Irish culture is full of vibrant music, beautiful artwork, delicious food, intriguing traditions, fascinating competitive sports, and interesting history! Ireland has rightfully been nicknamed “The Emerald Isle.” It is such a wonderful island!

Although a beautiful island, Ireland is considered the #1 unreached English-speaking country in the world. Secularism and Catholicism are the 2 largest religious belief groups in Ireland
Bible believing, born-a-gain Christians represent less than 1% of the people in Ireland. The need for churches in Ireland is great!
Missionaries are needed to help meet this spiritual need in Ireland. God has called me to help reach the people in Ireland with the Gospel.

Education
– BA in Biblical Counseling – Bob Jones University
Experience
– Interning with Baptist Mid-Missions missionaries in Havant, England for 4 months.
– Missions survey trip to England for 5 weeks.
– First Grade Teacher at Leon Valley Christian Academy for 2 years.
– Missionary to Havant, England for 2 years.

When God first began laying on my heart Ireland, over a year-and-a-half ago, I began to pray for more missionaries to go there. But at that point, I didn’t realize that God was preparing me to personally help meet this need for more missionaries in Ireland.
Following BMM’s recommendation, I did a few survey trips to see the ministries that other missionaries have throughout the British Isles and the rest of Europe. However, during many months of praying, God made it very clear that HE is leading me to Ireland. Ireland is considered the #1 unreached English-speaking country in the world.
Catholicism has been the main religion for so many years in Ireland. However, the younger generation has seen the emptiness or a works-based religion, and so many have embraced Secularism instead – rejecting God entirely. So many are dying without Christ as their personal Lord and Savior. In May 2023, I visited Doug and Amber Staley, missionaries in Mallow, Ireland. God used that survey trip, to confirm the call in my heart to serve alongside this missions team in reaching the people in Ireland with the gospel. I am now preparing to join the Staley family serving in Mallow, Ireland.
I am now preparing to go to Ireland. God has a plan, I am simply taking part in what He is doing in Ireland. I just spent 2-years in England gaining much needed experience and insight in the culture of the British Isles. God has been preparing me specifically for what He has planned for me to do in Ireland.
What will you do about this need in Ireland? Will you choose to be apart of God’s plan for reaching Ireland with the Gospel?
Three ways to help reach Ireland:
Note from Pastor Steve,
Dear Fellow Laborer in the harvest,
I would like to thank you for considering Mary Coburn as a missionary to present her burden for ministry in your church. I have gotten to know Mary better since I became the senior Pastor at Leon Valley Baptist Church. I have learned during this short time that Mary loves the Lord and is sensitive to His leading in her life.
We are so proud of Mary and how she represented our church as a missionary in England for 2 years. The ministry she did there is now being continued on by those she worked with and trained. God used her greatly during this time and taught her many valuable lessons that she plans to continue to use as a missionary.
After praying with Mary and counseling together, we are in agreement with the Lord’s leading in her life to go to Ireland as a missionary.
I would ask that you prayerfully consider financially supporting her so she can get to Ireland in the Lord’s timing. If you have any questions that I could answer as her home church pastor, please do not hesitate to contact me.
God bless you in the harvest,
Pastor Steve Burkholder
